OBITUARY
Pearl McKenzie Porter
September 17, 1941 – March 31, 2021
Pearl McKenzie Porter, of Bunnlevel, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the age of 79. She was born and raised in Marion County, Mississippi and has been a resident of North Carolina for the past 50 years. Pearl enjoyed gardening and traveling and looked forward to making a trip “home” to Mississippi each year. She cherished the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Willie Mae McKenzie; two brothers, Webbie McKenzie and Jerry McKenzie; a sister, Jessie Faye McKenzie; two sons, David Merritt and Gary Glen Merritt; and her husband of 45 years, Sherman Lee Porter; Pearl is survived by a daughter, Theresa (Ed) Brooker of Pinehurst, North Carolina; a son, Glen (Fay) Bowen of Lillington, North Carolina; a sister, Frankie (Calvin) Lawson of Texas; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Pearl, officiated by Reverend Glenn Nace, will be at 11:00am on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, Mississippi and friends may visit with the family from 10:00am until service time. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone. I'm younger than Pearl and don't know her that well. I know she's Webbie's sister. I'm Seth Stewart's youngest daughter, one of the twins. He was Willie Mae's uncle. My love to everyone.

Mama loved to go fishing. She wanted you to keep everyone you caught. She'd say, "oh that's good pan frying size"!!.
I will cherish all the memories I have a tour baby girl. I love you so so much.
