Phenie Dyess Stogner of Carson, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 29, 2025 at the age of 84. She was born in Carson to Joe and Olive Dyess where she has remained a lifelong resident. Phenie worked in the apparel industry and was a supervisor at Edward Hyman in Prentiss and at Horace Apparel in Bassfield. She later would work as a caretaker and sit with the elderly. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and a lifetime member of Greens Creek Baptist Church, where she was actively involved. She was also a breast cancer survivor. Phenie enjoyed life, laughter, and rocked her own style! She loved Elvis, roller skating and she loved her Red, White, and Blue. Phenie will be remembered as a true Patriot.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Dyess and Joe Stanley Dyess; five sisters, Amelia Traylor, Lula B. Raynes, Ida Mae Reed, Tiny Raynes, Agnes Bahm; a son, Dan Stogner; and her beloved husband, Glen Stogner.
Phenie is survived by a son, Thomas Wayne Stogner (Becky); three grandchildren, Wendy Miller (Earnest), Megan Altman (Jacob), and Barry Thomas; five great grandchildren, Lukas, Kinslee, Zackery, Makaila and Autumn; a host of nieces and nephews who will remember getting their cheek pinched; and many, many friends.
The funeral service, officiated by Brother Eddie Hartfield, will be at Greens Creek Baptist Church at 11:00am. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00am until service time. Ashley Stewart will lead the music. Burial will follow in the church cemetery assisted by Barry Thomas, Jacob Altman, Alvin Raynes, Mark Raynes, Randy Raynes, Brian McRaney serving as pallbearers. Patricia Raynes Hebert and Roy Traylor will serve as honorary pallbearers.
