Raner Wilson Pounds, of Kokomo, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born in Columbia, Mississippi to Russell and Lizza Pounds and has remained a lifelong resident of Marion County. Raner was a simple man who found pleasure in the simple things in life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and feeding the deer, fish, rabbits on his property. He loved his dogs and loved working around his farm and was content to be cutting the grass on his lawnmower or working the soil on his tractor. Most days he could be seen sitting in his truck contemplating life in the shade of the many trees around the farm. Raner will be remembered for growing the best tomatoes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sedgie Dale Pounds and Carl Pounds; and his beloved wife, Joyce Pounds. Raner is survived by his daughter, Sandra Pinkett and her husband, David; a sister, Nadean Allen and her husband, Glen; a brother, R.L. Pounds; four grandchildren, Shaun Goolsby, Kayleigh Pinkett, Shelby Pinkett, and Natalie Pinkett; and special extended family, Gayle and Clinton Alford.
There will be a visitation for Raner at Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 10:30am until 1:00pm. The service and burial will be private. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
