Sue Evelyn Beard

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Sue Evelyn Beard, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed from this life into God’s presence at the age 87. She was born in Foxworth, Mississippi to R.A. and Rovilla Beard. Upon graduating from high school, Sue moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to enroll in nursing school, beginning a long career in healthcare. Known for her remarkable intellect and passion for nursing, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Medical College of Georgia. With her passion for healthcare, Sue was now equipped to devote her life to education and hospital trauma care where she made a profound impact on countless lives.

In her leisure time, she was a prolific reader who was incredibly curious and had a thirst for knowledge. Sue developed a deep love for travel, wanting to experience new cultures and cuisines for herself. She also enjoyed gardening and approached gardening with the same dedication that she did with nursing, always interested in new plants and flowers. It’s not surprising that Sue was also an excellent cook who found great pleasure in preparing meals for gatherings of family and friends.

Sue was known for her deep faith and served her community and her Lord through her longtime membership with Millbrook Baptist Church in Aiken. Her life was a testament to strength, compassion, and an unyielding zest for life. Sue did everything with determination and will be remembered for her quick wit and boundless energy. Though the family is deeply saddened by her sudden passing, they are comforted in the knowledge that Sue is experiencing the fullness of God’s glory and with joyful anticipation are waiting for the day they will join her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pat Noblin and Fran Estes; and a daughter, Alyson Bloodsworth. Sue is survived by her daughter, Ramona Younts; a brother, Andy Beard (Jenny); five grandchildren, Rita Yoder (James), Steve Younts (Wendy), Todd Younts (Carmen), Lee Younts (Morgan), and Jason Sheahan; and five great-grandchildren, Ivy Yoder, Jacob Yoder, Abby Younts, Gaston Younts, and Caden Younts.

There will be a funeral service to celebrate Sue’s life at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, Mississippi on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:00am. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00am until service time and burial will follow in Foxworth Cemetery.
