Wyndol L. Thornhill, of Foxworth, Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the age of 86. He was born in Tylertown, Mississippi to Rodney and Susie Bedwell Thornhill and has been a lifelong resident of Marion County. Wyndol was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the Army National Guard after 20 years of service to his country. He worked with the Pearl River Valley Electric Power Association, retiring after 25 years, and also worked for eight and a half years as a process server with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Wyndol was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He just loved people, was generous to a fault, and would help anyone who had a need. He enjoyed riding horses, raising cattle, and working with honeybees. Wyndol will be remembered as a godly, man of faith who loved his family deeply. Known to have read the Bible completely through numerous times, he served his community and his Lord through his membership with West Columbia Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lane Thornhill. Wyndol is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mavis Roberts Thornhill; two daughters, Lisa Lavon Hall (Berkley) and Sandra Lea Anthony (Robbie); a son, Kenneth Lenn Thornhill (Glenda); a sister, Patricia Stringer (Emmitt); eight grandchildren, Tessa Forbes (Andrew), Tara Pierce (Grant), Anthony Morgan (Heather), Adrianne Darr (Josh), Drew Stringer (Mandy), Lee Stringer (Stacey), Erika Thornhill, and Lane Thornhill; and 21 great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation for Wyndol at Colonial Funeral Home on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Lane Turnage, will be in the funeral home chapel on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Thornhill Family Cemetery assisted by Hunter Ford, Braxton Powell, Drew Stringer, Lee Stringer, Anthony Morgan, Josh Darr, Andrew Forbes, and Lane Thornhill serving as pallbearers.
