Andrew Powell

A memorial service for Andrew “Andy” Edward Powell, 51, of Columbia will be held at 12 o’clock Friday, January 20, 2012 at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with Chaplain Clay Summers officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 until 12 Friday prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Meyer Finlay Pet Adoption Center, PO Box 1777, Columbia, SC 29202.

Andrew passed away gently surrounded by his family and the spirit of all who loved him. Born in Columbia on July 12, 1960, he was a son of Lomus W. Powell and Shirley Risinger Powell. Andrew took great pride in his work as a fire sprinkler inspector with the Palmetto Automatic Sprinkler Company.

Survivors include a son, Andrew E. Powell, Jr.; his parents, Lomus and Shirley Powell; a brother, Michael (Ellen) Powell of Lexington; sisters, Ann (David) Powell Grimes of Jacksonville, FL, Ann-Marie (Derrick) Hicks of Normal, IL. He is also survived by many other loving family members. Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his grandparents and his loving aunt.
