A graveside service for Anthony W. Clayton, 69, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2025 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Clayton transitioned Thursday 31, 2025. Born in Guelph Ontario, Canada, he was the son of Marlene Rose Clayton and the late Reverend Neville Clayton. He dedicated 20 years of service to the U.S. Air Force as a medic where he became a naturalized citizen while serving. After retiring from the military, he worked as a licensed practical nurse for 15 years. Tony had a special bond with his dog, Blaze while enjoying hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife Sheila Clayton; of South Carolina, daughter, Brook Clayton of Michigan; stepdaughters, Gabrielle Maynor-Brown and Samantha Wilson, both of Ohio; grandchildren, Logan Clayton of Michigan, Brandon and Gianna Brown of Ohio, Derrick and DeAnthony Henderson of Ohio; mother, Marlene Clayton of Iowa; brother-in-law, Robert (Elizabeth) Johnson of South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Rachel Clayton of Iowa, Beverly Parker of Ohio, brother-in-law Sherwood (Pat) Gregory of Michigan and Tracey Gregory of California; dear friend, brother and AIr Force Comrade Michael (April) Creitz of South Carolina; and a host of family and friends.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his son, Dustin L. Clayton; and five siblings, Joyce, Dean, Val, Shelly and Faith.
The family would like to acknowledge the love, kindness and special support of the doctors and nurses on the 6th Floor North at Lexington Hospital, The Brook Church, Martha Taylor, Stephanie Elkins, Jerry Cue, Yvonne Gaines, Michael Creitz, Words of Music Ministries Pastor Turnage of Youngstown, Ohio and Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel.
