

He follows his beloved wife, Helene Nowak Castro; his father, Jesus Panglinan Castro; his mother, Dominga Cruz Bernardo Castro; his brothers, Francisco Bernardo Castro, Jesus Bernardo Castro, Jose Bernardo Castro, Juan Bernardo Castro; his sisters, Maria Aguon, Concepcion Mundo; his daughter, Sylvia Castro; and his son, Artemio Bernardo “Joe” Castro, Jr.
Artemio was a proud Korean and Vietnam veteran. He was a highly decorated Army veteran who served 27 years. He was featured in Stars and Strips for his heroics at the Ia Drang valley. He also served proudly as a state constable at Riverbanks Zoo.
Artemio is survived by his daughters, Linda and her husband, Michael Sedewar, Mary and her husband Rudolph Blazek, Annie Castro, and Rosa and her husband Jomar Lizardi Sierra; his grandchildren, Charles Artemio Sedewar, Elizabeth and her husband Donald Zywicki, Eric Sedewar, Kristal and her husband Dustin Dinkins, and Heather Blazek; and four great-grandchildren, Summer Jamason, Brie Dinkins, Grayson Dinkins, and Olivia Zywicki.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2025 at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, where Artemio and his beloved wife Helene will be interred.
