She married her high school sweetheart, Don Alexander Nummy and was a devoted and loving wife of 46 years. Dee and Don are and were a true team. She made Don a better man. She doted on him, and he doted on her.

They blessed her with five beautiful grandchildren, Alexandria Rae Smith (Lexi), Maxwell Montgomery Shetterly (Max), Micah Suzanne Shetterly (Micah), Mary Kathryn Nummy (Mary Kathryn) and Audrey Legare Nummy (Legare). She is also survived by her brother, Ray Squires (Pam) and her sister, Lynn Welch (Wayne), together with their children, Meredith Tuck, Rebecca Hallman, Dan Moore and Terri Shultz.
Dee never met a stranger in her life. She was a wonderfully kind person. She showed compassion and grace to all she met. She loved everyone-- stranger, friend or family alike. She expected the best from everyone, including herself and trusted everyone.
Dee attended Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church in Lexington, SC. She epitomized the golden rule. She worshiped God and no false idols, except maybe Elvis… Also she operated under her own, heightened Golden Rule, she treated everyone much better than she ever expected or wanted to be treated.
