Barbara Jean Truesdale

COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Barbara Jean Truesdale, 76, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the chapel. Mrs. Truesdale passed into the Lord’s arms on Monday, February 22, 2016. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Esaw Benenhaley and Beulah Hood Benenhaley. She was employed at Skateland, USA in the child development center. Her passion was devoted to nurturing the children. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Truesdale was an original member of the Sumter Cheraw Indian Tribe. Surviving are her son, George C. Truesdale, Jr. (Susan) of Philadelphia, PA.; daughters, Tammy Majette (Rogers) of Lawrenceville, GA., Amy Dixon of Blythewood, and Barbara Armstrong of DE; grandchildren, George III, Jessica, Amanda, Alana, Joshua, Kendall and Trey; great-grandchildren, Belle, Kayla and Jackson; brother, Jim Benenhaley; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Randy Truesdale; a grandson, Randy “Anthony” Truesdale II; two brothers and four sisters.
