Betty Martin

A funeral service for Betty Naomi Martin, 64, of Columbia, will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia with Dave Brown and The Rev. Jerry Hacker officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Independent Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 Saturday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to The Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

Mrs. Martin died Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Born in Columbia December 20, 1946 she was a daughter of the late Dewey Franklin Martin, Sr. and Ezlean Strickland Martin. She was a past Worthy Matron and proud member of the Cayce Chapter 260 O.E.S., a daughter of the Nile at the Jamil Temple and a member of the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her daughter, Marie Martin of Columbia; her “youngins”, Carol Scalf (David Sr.) Cranfield of Goose Creek, Carl H. (Tammy) Scalf, Jr. of Lake Lure, NC, David Mock of Columbia; grandchildren, LeaAnn Eldridge of Chapin, David Cranfield, Jr., Nicholas Cranfield, Haley Cranfield all of Goose Creek, Michael Scalf, Ryan Scalf of Lake Lure, NC, Matthew (Maria) Scalf of Thief River Falls, MN; sister, Mary (Carl, Sr.) Scalf of Columbia, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Martin, five brothers and two sisters.
