

For 27 years, Bruce served as a Water Quality Manager for the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). For 20 years prior to his time at DHEC, he served in the United States Army retiring as a Sergeant First Class spending time in combat in Vietnam. Bruce built a life anchored in service.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn; his children, Kimberly Hughes (spouse Tim ), Jessica Berry (spouse Jeff) Brian Bleau (spouse Chera) and Leslie Austin (spouse James); grandchildren, Samantha Young (spouse Travis), Laura and Luke Jenkins and Annabelle Berry, Nicholas and Alaina Austin, Garrett and Armand Bleau; great-grandchildren, McKenna, Dawson, Addisyn and Charlotte Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, Armand and Bernadette Bleau and brother, Mark Bleau.
He leaves behind a legacy his family will carry forward: to give your time as he did with Cooperative Ministry preparing free tax returns.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2026, in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
