COLUMBIA - A Mass of Christian Burial for Celene McPeters Estes, 69, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, with burial at 2:00 p.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2019, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel.
Mrs. Estes passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Friday, September 27, 2019. Born in Florence, Alabama on February 7, 1950, she was a daughter of the late John Douglas McPeters and Thelma Kolliefrath McPeters.
Celene was a graduate of Bradshaw High School in Florence, Alabama and received her Associate’s degree in dental hygiene from Midlands Technical College. She retired from Cottingham Family Dentistry. She was an active member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She also volunteered for Clean of Heart. Celene enjoyed spending time with her family, running, working out at the gym, working in her yard, taking photographs, and was an avid reader.
Surviving are her daughters, Shely Estes Allen and Angie Estes Cain (Andrew); grandchildren, Skyler Allen, Madison DeLong, Hunter Allen, and Emma Delong; brother, Richard McPeters; and sister, Casandra McPeters.
In addition to her parents, Celene was predeceased by her husband, John Robert Estes and her brother, Shane McPeters.
