On Friday, July 3, 2026, our hearts were forever changed when God, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, gently called Charles Edward "Fat" Hope home while he peacefully slept. Though our hearts are burdened with unimaginable sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that he answered God’s call and now rests in eternal peace.
Charles was born on March 27, 1964, in Clio, South Carolina, to the late Mr. Ozzie Joe Hope Sr. and Mrs. Margaret Brown Hope. His kindness, humility, and unwavering love for his family defined the man he became.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after years of faithful service. Following his military career, he dedicated his professional life to BlueCross BlueShield, where he worked as an Application Developer. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a treasured brother, and a loyal friend. To know him was to know a man whose love and friendship was genuine.
Outside of work, Charles loved spending time on the golf course with his friends and fellow members of the Heavy Hitters Golf Club, creating lasting friendships and memories. Charles had a true appreciation for good food and never missed the opportunity to enjoy a good meal with family and friends. Some of his happiest moments were the simple ones—having a fresh cup of coffee in the morning, working in the yard, and relaxing afterward with his favorite cigar, and appreciating the blessings God has given him. These ordinary moments became extraordinary because they reflected the peaceful, grateful life he lived and enjoyed. To know him was always to Love him.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ozzie Joe Hope Sr. and Margaret Brown Hope; his precious daughter, Jasmine Nichole Hope; his sisters, Sarah Gaines, Annie Malachi, Ola Hope, and Gail Hope; and his brothers, Robert Hope, Michael Hope, and Bobby Hope.
Although his physical presence will be deeply missed, his love, kindness, and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memories wife, LaTonya (Hambright) Hope of SC; his brothers, Ozzie Joe Hope Jr. of NC, Johnny (Helen) Hope of VA, and Terry Hope of NC; his sisters, Esther Wadley of GA, Abbie Hope of NC, Mildred (Latrell) Hope of NC, and Mickey (John Jr.) Smith of NC; his son, Justin (Taylor) Hope and two children, step children Aalieyah (Sean) Mckinnon of GA, and Charles Davis of SC along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the time they shared with him.
Though Charles has departed this earthly life, the love he gave so freely and the legacy he leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
