Charles Frederick King

IRMO – Funeral services for Charles Frederick King, 76, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church with burial at Bush River Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel.

Mr. King was born on May 19, 1936 in Morristown, NJ and passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013. He was the son of the late Charles Shephard King and Virginia Wypler King. Mr. King attended Transylvania College, the University of Kentucky and took online classes to pursue a Masters Degree in Finance. He began working at AT&T in NJ and was employed there for 15 years. He later moved to SC in 1979 and continued working with AT&T. He loved sports and was very active with the Irmo Youth baseball league. He also enjoyed politics and music.

Mr. King is survived by his wife, Ina King of Columbia, SC; son, Timothy Charles King of Decatur, GA; sister, Virginia Lee King of Irmo, SC; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step-father, William “Tiger” and Virginia Kelleher.
