Born November 11, 1932 in Blaney, SC, she was a daughter of the late John Jabez Crumpton and Mattie Atkerson Crumpton and was a graduate of Blaney High School. While living in Blaney she attended Smyrna United Methodist Church. After marriage to her late husband, she became a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. When it relocated she became a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church and was a member of the Anne McManus Sunday School Class. She sang with the Singing Seniors and enjoyed “Young in Heart.”
After graduating from school she worked for 16 years with the F. W. Woolworth Co. She left there and worked with BellSouth where she retired after 27 years of service.
Widow of the late Robert Hugh Wiedemann, she is survived by a brother Alfred A. (Martha) Crumpton; sister, Cleo Crumpton (John W.) Daugherty; nephews, Ron Crumpton, Thimothy Crumpton; nieces, Fannie Ruth Hopple, Janice Rawl, Julie Miles; as well as lots of special nephews and nieces of her husband. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Samuel Leroy Crumpton and John Julian Crumpton as well as one sister, Lois Crumpton Daniels.
The funeral service for Mrs. Wiedemann will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 at 2 o’clock at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia with the Rev. Dr. Fred S. Miller, Jr. officiating. Following the service Mrs. Wiedemann will be laid to rest next to her husband of 52 years in Crescent Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 o’clock at the funeral home.
