Christopher Matthew Hutson, 68, passed away on June 21, 2026. Born on October 9, 1957, in Memphis, Tennessee, Chris lived a life defined by service, adventure, hard work, and the love of family and friends.
Chris proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a career that allowed him to travel the world while serving with honor. After retiring from military service, he began a second career as an auto mechanic, where his mechanical skill, dedication, and willingness to lend a helping hand earned the respect of those around him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Denise Leslie Hutson.
Chris is lovingly remembered by his children, Brittany Hutson (Adam) and Christopher Hutson; his sister, Tracee (Kevin); his brother, Tate; and many other cherished family members and dear friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.
Outside of work, Chris found joy in the things that brought people together. He loved solving puzzles and Sudoku, listening to music, singing karaoke, bowling, golfing, and sharing a rum and Coke with friends. He was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, and some of his happiest moments were spent on the open road with no destination in mind—simply enjoying the ride and wherever the journey happened to lead.
Those who knew Chris will remember his adventurous spirit, his love of laughter and good company, and his ability to make lasting friendships wherever life took him. His legacy lives on in the memories he created and the love he shared with his family and friends.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on July 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather afterward at the Anchor Tavern for a Celebration of Life to honor Chris, share stories, and remember the many ways he touched their lives.
Though he will be deeply missed, Chris's family takes comfort in knowing that his journey continues, and that the roads he traveled and the lives he touched will never be forgotten.
