Clara McGill

December 24, 1930November 1, 2018

COLUMBIA – Clara McGill was born on December 24, 1930 in Spartanburg, SC, and departed this Earth appropriately on the morning of All Saints Day, Thursday, November 1, 2018. She was a shining light to all who crossed her path. If there was ever an embodiment of pure love energy, it was Miss Clara. She was that “cool mom” everyone wished they had. A radiant soul and a once-in-a-lifetime friend, Clara was the personification of kindness and joy. Her home was a sanctuary of love for all. Please remember her in the temple of your heart. A memorial tribute will be held at a later date. Surviving are her sons, Mark S. McGill of Columbia, David N. McGill of Lexington and John V. McGill of Hopkins; five grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Fred Nolen, Jr. of Chapin and James C. Nolen of Charleston. She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll E. McGill and daughter, Jean Hall. Memorials may be made to the Oliver Gospel Mission, PO Box 7791, Columbia, SC 29202 or the SPCA, 121 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209. Elmwood Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family.

My condolences to Mark and family members, as well close friends. I have been blessed over the years to know the Mc Gill family. Rarely do you run across such loving and caring folks who have your best interests within their hearts.

Growing up across the street from this family was a blessing and knowing her was a privilege. I always felt at home in their house mainly because of her (Mom) what a beautiful spirit and amazing soul this woman had. She had such an influence on my life and I will forever keep her in my heart and try to be like her more everyday. Pure Love and light to the family. Love you
Amy

Clara and and I worked together for about twenty years in the two and three year old Sunday School class at Asbury. The children probably taught us more than we taught them, but what wonderful memories I have of working with Clara. She was so delightful and always smiling. You all have lost a jewel. My heart felt sympathy to each of you. Ann Hunter

My second home for more than fifty years. Door always open and Mrs. McGill waiting to hear my stories and adventures. Then 1996 Don Crandall entered my life and readily welcomed into this family. Actually I think it was his Moms cheesebread which did the trick. Mark you know our Moms are dancing in Heaven and laughing about our antics. Hugs and love- Richard and Don
