BLYTHEWOOD - David F. Wagner Sr., 89, died 19th July, 2018 while surrounded by family and friends. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. this Sunday the 22nd at Seacoast Church in Columbia, SC.
Mr. Wagner was born on 3rd December, 1928 in Oak Park, Illinois to Hope and Leonard Wagner. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 18 and retired after 22 years of service. Mr. Wagner served in both WWII and the Korean War. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. During his service, he married Charlaine A. Rottman on November 3rd, 1953. They raised four children together. David and Charlaine were married for 49 years. Mr. Wagner was heavily involved in his church community and the equine community.
His family mentioned this about him, "David dedicated his life to his family and created the sense of family in any community he was a part of. He will be greatly missed by all."
Mr. Wagner was preceded in death by his wife, Charliane Wagner.
He is survived by son, David Wagner Jr and Spouse Betty Wagner; daughter, Roxeanna Terrill, daughter Cindy Camp, son, Danny Wagner; sister, Janet and Allen Martin, sister Connie and Dealus Wiley, brother Tom and Mary Wagner, brother-in-law, Charles Rottman, grandchildren Michael and David Weiner, David Sleeper, Brittany Layne, Valerie Kelly, Kelly, Brian, and Robert Camp; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Kelly, and Heidi Layne.
Elmwood Funeral Home and Cremation Service are assisting the family with arrangements.
