ROCK HILL - Memorial service for Delmar David “Red” Penny, 94, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Chandler Place. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Columbia, is assisting the family. Mr. Penny died Thursday, September 25, 2014. Born in Sidney, Ill., he was a son of the late Earl Penny and Fannie Hardyman Penny. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked for National Cash Register as a service manager. He later began his own company, Penny Cash Register, from which he retired. Mr. Penny was also a member of Shrine at Olekia Temple in Lexington, KY. Surviving are his son, Dr. Robert E. Penny, Sr., of York; grandchildren, Robin Penny of Holyoke, Mass., Robert E. Penny, Jr. (Holly) of Irmo, Beth Parker (Zach) of Savannah, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Walker Penny, Lauren Parker and Will Parker.
