

Donald Livingston Stone, 77, of Columbia, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Born in Ballentine, SC, on May 30, 1934, he was a son of the late Dan Livingston and Maggie Belle Derrick Stone. Retired from the State Record Newspaper, where he was the last to complete the ITU Apprenticeship, Mr. Stone was active in numerous groups, including the Friday Night Dinner Club, St. Andrews Ruritan Club, the Columbia Typographical Union, and the Keenagers Bowling League. He was a member of Clemson University’s IPTAY Club, and had served his country in the US Army, and Air Force Reserves. Donald was a member of Park Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Nungezer Stone of Columbia; daughter, Patti Marshall Stone (Bobby Saylors) of Columbia; sister, Aldaray S. Carns of Chester; brother, Harvey Stone of Irmo; nephews, Barry Stone (Cindy) and Brent Stone (Carmen), all of Chapin, Brian Stone (Melissa) of Irmo, Danny Carns (Frances) Chester, and Phil Carns (Chrissy) of Cumming, GA; as well as nieces, Cheryl Wylie (Robert) and Pam Roddey (Lee), all of Chester.
The funeral service for Mr. Stone will be held 2 o’clock, Friday, November 11, 2011, at Park Street Baptist Church, 2204 Park St, Columbia, with The Rev. Dr. Samuel G. Catoe officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Members of the Friday Night Dinner Club are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock, Thursday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
