Born in Charleston, SC on May 8, 1958, she was a daughter of the late Lee Pittillo and Barbara Craven Pittillo. She was a graduate of The University of South Carolina, where she received her Master’s Degree in Education. Donna spent most of her professional life working in the insurance industry, with a meaningful chapter spent teaching middle school.
Donna loved spending time with her family, especially in her cherished role as "Nonna" to her grandchildren. She had a gift for hosting gatherings, particularly during the holidays, and took great joy in decorating, crafting, and creating beauty in everyday life.
Her talents in floral arranging and gift wrapping were a special hallmark—many family weddings featured bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres lovingly made by her hands, and her intricately wrapped gifts were a joy to receive. Donna’s creativity and care shone through in everything she touched, from festive centerpieces to the thoughtful details that made every celebration feel special.
Donna was also known for her deep love of music and classic movies, with a knowledge that spanned generations. Christmas held a particularly special place in her heart—she delighted in decorating the family tree and watching beloved holiday films, especially It’s a Wonderful Life. Her home reflected her personality, including her enthusiasm for Disney and her enduring affection for cows, which were lovingly featured throughout her décor.
Later in life, Donna’s adventurous spirit led her to travel for both work and leisure, and many of her most treasured memories came from travels with her family. She remained a lifelong learner who loved meeting new people and exploring new places.
Surviving are her son, Ryan Woodall (Sara Woodall); daughter, Laura-Caroline Woodall McLaine (Everett McLaine); grandchildren, Lillian Woodall, Benjamin Woodall, and Isla McLaine; sister, Stephanie Nelson (Stephen Nelson); numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Lamar Woodall.
She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2025, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service, with burial at 1:00 p.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
