Dorothy Helms

Dorothy Elizabeth Sharpe Helms, 90, of Columbia, passed away February 6, 2012. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Douglas McKay Sharpe and Ida Estelle Helms Sharpe. Mrs. Helms was a member of Bayview Baptist Church and a retired beautician.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Kay Dean and husband, Jim; two grandchildren, Chantal Bevilaqua and husband, Steven, and Matt Dean, all of West Palm Beach, Florida. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Helms was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Helms in 1993.

The funeral service for Mrs. Helms will be 11 o’clock, Friday, February 10, 2012 at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Jeffery T. Scott. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10 o’clock.
