Eleanor "Ellie" Mae Howe, age 40, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Taylor Plantation, Lexington, SC. Coming from Columbia, take I20W towards Augusta. Take Exit 55B, and turn left at the traffic light onto SC-6/South Lake Drive (towards Redbank). Go 1.8 miles and turn left onto Old Barnwell. Go .3 miles, and turn right at the Taylor Plantation sign. Follow signs short distance to Taylor Plantation. The service will be outdoors. Do not use Google maps.

The Celebration will be officiated by Pastor Josh Brown.

Ellie was born on December 30, 1980 in Rockledge, Florida, the daughter of Cyndi Boot and Curt Boot; sister of Joshua and Jesse Boot.

She studied graphic design at UofSC, and later formed her own business, Captus Graphix LLC, to pursue her love and passion for graphic design work.

Eleanor is Greek for "light, and bright shining one." For all who knew Ellie, she was indeed a bright and shining light who encouraged all she met. Love God - love and serve others was her life mission. With both friends and strangers, her greeting was "Hi beautiful or hi friend!" as she smiled and made you feel like you were the most important person in that moment: because you were.

Ellie loved spending time with family and friends, spontaneous road trips, as well as retreating in nature for solitude and spiritual connection.

Most of all, she loved and cherished her children – daughter, Emma Bassett and son, Aiden Howe: they were her heart and world. You were not around Ellie long before their names came up in conversation.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Joshua Boot; grandmother, Mary Ellen Carns - Noni; uncle, Dennis Boot and grandfather, Cliff Boot - Grandpa Boot.

Ellie, you will remain in our hearts and our lives until we see you again, and be reminded of you each time we see a hawk soaring in the sky. ❤

Inside everyone,
The infinite traveller
Longs to be set free!

Our time in this realm was far too short, dearest Ellie.
We will meet again for sure.
And you will tell me all about the adventures during those travels.

Wow. Ellie was such a beautiful Light. I’ve only known her for two years - and in that time she has impacted my life in more ways than people who have been in my life for 30+ years. She will definitely be loved and miss. Sending hugs and prayers to her family and friends and beautiful children!

Coach Ellie made my daughter feel like the most important player on the field. She took a little girl with few athletic skills and made her feel like a champion. She was that for all the lives she touched. I feel blessed to have known her and will always cherish the time we spent together. I will miss her very much as will everyone that knew her. ❤

My deepest condolences to Ellie's family & friends. I wanted to share a few thoughts and memories...

"What you see in me, is merely a reflection of you." Something Ellie would say every time a complement was paid to her. She'd respond humbly with a gentle reminder, "the spirit in you sees the spirit in me", carefully directing gratitude back to the source-Devine Light.

Ellie is one of the few people I could have a single conversation with and in 30 minutes cover Kenny Wayne, Little Wayne, John Wayne, and Wayne Dyer in one sitting. I remember years ago when she taught me to breathe "Yahweh". "Close your eyes, Just inhale yaaaah...exhale weeeeh". That was my first introduction to Richard Rhor. The youtube video is called: Richard Rohr "Yahweh" should you like to discover for yourself.

When she recommitted her heart to the Lord and was baptized at Newspring Church, I will never forget the passion and fire she had for God. Man, she lit up like a Christmas tree when her brother, Jessie would play on stage! I remember she called me one day, "you're never gonna freakin' believe this...we won a f#@*&in' car!" She always carried a profound arrangement of vocabulary with her, that's for sure! "So, we tithed faithfully every week for the past__months, and we were entered into a drawing. "We Won!"

Faithfully...the word that embodies her commitment to you. Ellie was a human do-ing...amazing things. Whether it was Lauren Daigle, Pearl Jam, Pink, Indie Arie, Rising Appalachia, or pure silence; Ellie created the drum beat by which to dance freely; inviting us all in for a safe space to tango...should you be so adventurous.

Friends, may we treat our hearts and minds with tenderness as we process this grief. Feel her in every brisk walk, soft breeze, and scent of a flower...she's here. She always will be. I love you BIG sister! #loveandservice #thatshowesherolled

In Love & Service,

We were so sad to hear about Ellie. Your entire family has been such a wonderful relationship for J.R. Ellie will be missed by so many but I am sure without a doubt she is in a beautiful place. J.R. and I were talking the other day about the first time I met Ellie. She invited him to church where Cindy and Ellie played the drums. Then he developed a very close relationship with Josh, who he still misses dearly. Cindy and Jessie, I appreciate your visiting J.R. and supporting him through all these years. You are a wonderful family and pray for peace and healing for you.

"You do not have a soul, you have a body. You are a soul.' ~ C.S. Lewis
Ellie shared this quote was a favorite of hers. My cherished friend, I am having a tough time using past tense to describe your many attributes. My heart is frozen in my chest, my breath uneven, my thoughts scattered. I find myself drowning in a sea of what ifs and whys since learning of your demise. I cannot conceive the loss your family and folks who have known you much longer than I are contending with.
"We do not see the world as it is, we see it as we are." Anna Nis'. Suffering from this disease of perception, I csn see only black and grainy grays the colors have faded. Thank you Ellie for the kindness, the laughter, the memories the irreverant joy. Only you could manage. Who else besides you could start a closing prayer with a devious smile and the words "Who saw us naked in the shower, this morning?". The enemy could not dim your love light and in fear took you from our sight. God gsined a angel, we lost a lighthouse. Your love light will be csrried firward in the hearts of the multitudes of lives you touched in your short journey. I leave you my dear and cherished friend with the words you left me wuth, "Thank you, for being such a wonderful soul and such a faithful friend.!
May our loving Gid hold yout fanily snd loved ones in the bosun of his heart protecting and keeping them whole. Save me chair, we will have much to discuss. Love you.
