

Elena was honored by her peers at an early age for being the most pleasant and the most well liked. Her smile, her love for all people and her ability to understand different views made her a very special person. This is what Elena will be remembered for.
Elena met the love of her life, William Saville Lackland, in Newport, Rhode Island where he was serving in the Navy. Elena and William (Bill) were married in January of 1955 and made South Carolina their home. They enjoyed a close group of friends. She was always known for her strength of character and determination.
Elena’s greatest joy was her love for her husband, family and God.
Elena and Bill enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage.
Elena was preceded in death by her husband, William Saville Lackland of West Columbia and her parents, Charles and Teresa D’Arezzo.
Elena is survived by her three children, Pamela Nancy Lackland of West Columbia, SC, Paige (Rod) Rabon of Aiken, SC and Richard Saville Lackland of Atlanta, GA; and six grandchildren, George (Lydia) Rabon of Summerville, Elizabeth (Ben) Lindroth of Augusta, GA, William (Bailie) Rabon of Central, SC, Charles (Ashley) Rabon of Winston-Salem, NC, James Rabon of Aiken, SC and Andrew (Abigail) of Greenville, SC. Elena enjoyed her great-grandchildren, Annabella Lindroth, Annabel Rabon, George Peter Rabon, Elliott Rabon and Georgia Grace Rabon, affectionally known as GiGi.
Elena was a special person. She had a smile that radiated kindness and love. We will remember her always.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, December 3, at her home between 5PM and 7PM. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church of Columbia at 2PM, with a reception to follow in Jackson Hall and a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery.
