

A funeral service for Faye Ann Hornsby Hipp, 75, of Columbia will be held at 10 o’clock, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel with The Rev. Ronald Bower and The Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, SC. Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 901 St. Andrews Rd., Columbia, SC 29210. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, as well as, David Pathel, and Bill Talbert; with honorary pallbearers being the members of the Neely Friendship Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Hipp died Saturday, June 4, 2011. Born July 28, 1935 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Burrell Hornsby and Oneida Branham Hornsby. Faye married her childhood sweetheart, James, and the two were married for 60 years. She enjoyed touring with the Early Ford V-8 Car Club of America. Mrs. Hipp retired from Action Transmission Service where she worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene where she was a member of the Neely Friendship Sunday School class.
Survivors include her husband, James “Jimmy” W. Hipp, Sr.; son, James W. (Joye) Hipp, Jr; daughter, Patsy (David) Pathel; son, Mike Hipp; and daughter, Debra (Bill) Talbert, all of Columbia; grandchildren, Ashley Todd, Tanner Brazell, Katherine and Andrew Hipp, Michael and Max Talbert; great grandson, Connor Todd; sisters, Ruby (Ken) Kelly of Pennsylvania; Margaret (Leslie) Edwards of Columbia; and Janet (Don) Boggs of Columbia; and brother, Albert (Nell) Hornsby of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Phillips and brother, William B. Hornsby.
