

COLUMBIA – George Andrew Brower, III, 86, was born on April 5, 1926; he went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.
George served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and later began preparing for an Engineering profession. However, after coming into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, he felt called to full-time service to the One who had redeemed him. He attended Shelton College in NYC before coming to Columbia to complete his degree at Columbia Bible College (CIU). He then served as a missionary in Latin America.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, E. Anita Brower and seven children, Anita Marcy (Jonathan), George Brower IV (Gail), Tom Brower (Manuela), Steve Brower (Louise), Jo Anne Wideman (Craig), Miriam Davis (Chuck) and Amy Galdamez (Michael); 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A celebration service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at St. Andrews Evangelical Church, 2609 Seminole Road, Columbia, SC 29210. The family will greet friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Evangelical Church Building Fund, Columbia International University Scholarship Fund or World Team General Fund.
The family wishes to extend special gratitude to Palmetto Hospice Care and Palmetto Senior Care for their excellent staff of doctors, nurses and volunteers.
