Geraldine Miranda Douglas

Her dash began December 28, 1945, and came to an end August 15, 2026, at the heartfelt age of 80.

She was predeceased by her parents, Victor Miranda (2015) and Regina Miranda (2018). She was the sister of Gerald (Nadene) Miranda, Charlene (Sam) Wood, and Mary Brush, and a beloved aunt and great-aunt to a multitude in California.

For 58 years, she was married to Navy veteran Richard F. Douglas II.

But her greatest joy was the family they built together.

And build it they did.

The Douglas Dynasty includes six children and their spouses—Colleen (Chris), Richard (Susan), Michelle (John), Ginger (Bryan), Jonathon (Celestine), and Michael (Robyn)—plus 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

That's not a family tree.

That's a forest.

Mom's Catholic faith wasn't something she simply professed; she lived it.

Throughout her life, she served others in many roles, including as an administrative assistant at St. Martin de Porres, a paralegal at Horn Law Firm, and a notary. But most of all, she was a proud parishioner of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church for 40 years, where she served on the parish council, sang in the church choir, and faithfully counted the church beans.

Counting beans tells you two things: she was devoted—and apparently everyone trusted her with the collection plate.

Geri loved fishing, boating, camping, gardening, quilting, flowers, seashells, cards, and mahjong. She was the partner you wanted at the table—and if you weren't her partner, you quickly discovered just how competitive she could be.

Her hands created beauty in so many ways: arranging flowers, stitching quilts, crocheting, tending plants, and gathering seashells along the shore with the sand beneath her feet and the water washing over her toes.

Her greatest legacy isn't something she leaves behind in a house or a box.

Her legacy is us.

Every time we show up for one another, speak the truth with love, gather as a family, plant a flower, pick up a seashell, sing a hymn, deal a hand of cards, or sit beneath a beautiful night sky, a little piece of Mom's life continues through us.

And as we miss her, we will hold tightly to the faith that sustained her:

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

She loved deeply.

She served faithfully.

She gave selflessly.

She kept the faith.

Forever Our Rock.

Forever Our Mom.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

In honor of Mom's Hawaiian heritage, the family requests that those attending wear bright colors.

Mom loved flowers, but she especially loved the plants she could nurture and watch grow. In her memory, the family welcomes living plants in lieu of cut flowers.
