Gloria Sosa Torres

Columbia: A graveside service for Gloria Sosa Torres, 85, of Columbia, will be held 2 o’clock, Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Greenlawn Memorial Park with The Rev. Father Gustavo Corredor officiating. Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel is in charge.

Mrs. Torres, widow of George Luis Torres, was born April 3, 1926 in San Juan, Puerto Rico and was a daughter of the late Esnesto Sosa Rechanis and Joseva Bentaqur Sosa. She attended St. John Neumann Catholic Church and the Eastern Star Masonic Lodge at Ft. Jackson.

Survivors include her daughters, Haydee Torres Grossman and Hildelisa (Jim) Carder all of Columbia; son, Ruben (Teresa) Rodriguez of Columbia; grandsons, Edward A. Mizzell, Jr., James A. (Letha) Carder and Ronald A. (Tiffany) Carder all of Columbia; granddaughters, Stephanie (Alex) Mizzell-Shultz of Columbia, Valerie L. (Matt) Vallee of Atlanta, GA, Erika D. Grossman of Strasburg, PA; five great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.

The family would like to thank Dr. James Steen along with Palmetto Health Hospice for the wonderful care given during Gloria’s illness.
