Born October 11, 1937 to W. C. and Mary West, she was the youngest of 4 siblings, all now deceased.
Gloria worked as telephone, switchboard operator at Baptist Hospital for 17 years, moving from there to become employed at Providence Hospital as a switchboard operator. She retired from Providence Hospital after 19 years.
Her hobbies were knitting, crochet, and crafts. She loved her church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Columbia, SC, volunteering there as needed. She was member of the choir for many years.
Gloria had been a resident/patient at Heritage at Lowman Home, White Rock, SC for the past 8 years. She passed away of complications of dementia.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Ave, Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts of love and honor be sent to her beloved church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1715 Bull Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
