Herbert Russell Wenger

WEST COLUMBIA – Funeral services for Herbert Russell Wenger, 93, will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Elmwood Mausoleum Chapel with interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Mausoleum Chapel. Mr. Wenger was born November 9, 1924 in Delaware County, Ohio and passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. He was a son of the late Leota Mae Chambers and Harvey Harrison Wenger. He attended Brown High School and graduated from Willis High School in Delaware, OH, as well as Columbus Business University where he met his wife, Marjorie Norris Wenger. Mr. Wenger owned the Wenger Insurance Agency in Delaware, OH. After living and raising their family in Delaware, OH, they moved to Rockledge, FL in 1980 where they lived for 35 years before moving to Columbia, SC in 2015. They were active residents of Indian Oaks Community and long-time and active members of the Rockledge United Methodist Church. He and Marjorie would be celebrating 73 years of marriage on September 16th. Mr. Wenger is survived by his wife, Marjorie E. Wenger of Columbia; children, Herb (Barb) Wenger of Green Valley, AZ, Kathleen (Jim) Carper of Columbia, Mark (Judy) Wenger of Carrollton, TX, Rebecca (Danny) Shumate of Rockledge, FL; brother, Larry Wenger of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Marion Wenger. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Carolina Gardens of West Columbia and Agape Hospice.
