
James George Burke, V, infant son of First Lt. James George Burke, IV, and Christi LaRue Bachman Burke, was born at 7:48am on January 9th in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. As the rain poured down outside, our little one was born on the day Jesus was baptized, according to the Liturgical Christian calendar. He went to be with God at 8:05 that morning. His short life produced great joy and he accomplished everything God intended. His life was celebrated as he was surrounded by his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. His father graduated from The Citadel in 2009, and is an Army Chaplain candidate who will graduate with an MDIV from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC this May. His mother, Christi, graduated in 2009 from Charleston Southern University majoring in Youth Ministry with an emphasis in Children and Families.
James V is survived by his great grandmothers: Capitola Taff and Bettye Custard of Arlington, VA, and Helen Sweigert of Alpharetta, GA. His great grandfather, Charles Custard of Chantilly, VA. His grandparents, Russell and Dara Burke of W. Columbia, SC, Raymond and Vicki Bachman of Alpharetta, GA. Uncles, Jonathan Bachman of Alpharetta, GA, David Bachman of Nashville, TN, Jordan Burke, Nathan Burke, Jonathan Burke, and Joshua Burke all of W. Columbia, SC. Aunts, Ashleigh Burke Coleman of Toccopola, MS, and Carrie Burke Wolf of Columbia, SC.
A graveside service will be held 11 o’clock Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Historic Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, officiated by The Rev. Larry Trotter and Dr. Mark Liederbach of North Wake Church of Wake Forest, NC. The family will greet friends by the graveside following the service.
