James Michael Hartin, 75, of West Columbia, South Carolina passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023. He was born in Columbia, SC and was the son of the late Furman Dexter Hartin, Jr. and the late Virginia Louise Taylor Hartin. He retired from AT&T as a field technician worker. He graduated from University High School of Columbia and attended broadcasting school in Atlanta. Jim served in the United States Army.
An avid Gamecocks fan, he loved spending time at Edisto Beach, listening to music, drinking beer, the pool and grilling. Jim especially loved his beloved cats and spending time with his family, friends, and the love of his life, Daisy.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Daisy Treece Hartin; children, Elaine Hartin, Ashley Hartin (Karen), and Jamie Hartin (Tracy); grandchildren, Grey, Madeleine, Audrey, Andrew, Emilee, and Caroline; sister Mary Shuford and niece, Elizabeth. He is also survived by Daisy’s supportive extended family, the Mikell’s, Yoder’s, Treece’s, and Lowman’s.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Wednesday, January 3, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Elmwood Cemetery Mausoleum, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201. Family and friends will be received in the chapel following the service.
