Ron was someone who had an infectious personality & never met a stranger. He was a graduate of East Henderson High School in Hendersonville, NC. After attending college at AB Tech in Asheville, NC, he began his career within the trucking and motor freight industry working in auditing and as a Rate Analyst until retiring for Southeastern Freight Lines in Columbia, SC. Outside of work, he loved history, movies (especially Turner Classics), music and old cars and could talk extensively about any of these. Most importantly, he cherished his family & all his friends.
He is survived by his brother, Scott McMurray & sister-in-law Kim of Garner, NC; his sister, Janet McMurray of Alexandria, VA; his sister-in-law, Barbara McMurray of Tampa, FL; his beloved nephew, Clyde (Sheepadoodle); his aunt, Brenda Owenby of Simpsonville, SC and several cousins residing in North & South Carolina, as well as long time close friends, Sue Hattersley and the late Mike Atkins both of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Steven McMurray and his nephew, Victor J. Knotek Jr.
He will be deeply missed by many family & friends and a future gathering will be held in honor of his life in beautiful Western North Carolina.
