Jean Margeson Fenner
March 3, 1919 – July 31, 2019
COLUMBIA – Jean Margeson Fenner passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 31, 2019, in Columbia, SC. She was 100 years old. Jean was born in Boston on March 3, 1919. Her father was one of the first management consultants, so she moved with her parents many times before she went to college. Jean graduated from Smith College with a music degree and received her master’s degree in English literature from the University of Detroit. She played and composed music into her 80s. She played and produced many parody songs, skits and poems. She loved music almost as much as she loved her family. Jean was married to Art (Dr. Arthur) for 58 years until he died in 2013. They had the late Anne K. Zanier and three sons. She is survived by John Fenner, Jim Fenner and Steve Fenner, and grandchildren who will miss her. She was particularly supportive and helpful to her grandchildren, who are all much the better for her love. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Carolina Gardens and Regency Hospice. A funeral service will be held in Elmwood Chapel, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201 at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019 with burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC 29229.
