Mrs. Pickens was in the first graduating class of Spring Valley High School. She was a military child living in several states and Germany and finally settled in Columbia, SC. She worked in insurance sales for many years and most recently, she owned her own roofing company with her husband. She was involved in humanitarian relief efforts in Honduras over the years. She loved her family and friends dearly.
She is survived by her husband, Jose Escobar of Eastover, SC; daughter, Maureen Govea of Columbia, SC; son, Joseph Mark Stanley of West Columbia, SC; brothers, Paul Pickens (Cathy) of Prosperity and Charles Richmond (Jane) of Blountville, TN; grandchildren, Luz Govea, Brianna Govea, Ryan Helms and Conner Stanley.
A graveside inurnment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia.
