
COLUMBIA – JoAn Harrison Joye passed away January 2, 2017. Mrs. Joye was a daughter of the late Algernon Burr Harrison and the late Nettie Harrison Coats. Survived by her husband, James E Joye, of sixty years, daughter, Jennifer Joye Boltin (James) of Columbia; sons, Jim Joye (Lilian) of Lexington and Alex Lewis (Christine) of Williamston and sister, Algene McCoy of Columbia; grandchildren, Jessica Joye Van Wyk (Brandon), Justin Joye, Hutch Joye, Tessie Joye, Harrison Boltin (Abigail), Ansleigh Joye Lewis and Levi Lewis: great-grandchildren Kaylynn, Mackenzie, Sterling and John Harrison; step-grandchildren, Patrick (Reca), Lari, and Jen; step- great-grandchildren, Ethan, Caroline, Jack, Pryor, Brody, and Dylan. Proceeded in death by son, John Harrison Joye of Jacksonville, FL, brother, AB Harrison, sisters, Del Yonce and Happy Harrison.
Mrs. Joye was a state employee most of her life, she was a cherished wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Born January 19, 1936 in Columbia, SC she lived in Columbia most of her life. A member of Shandon Baptist Church.
A celebration of life will be held Monday January 9, 2017 at Shandon Baptist Church with visitation at 2:00pm and the service at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her name.
Elmwood Funeral Home and Cremation is assisting the family with arrangements.
