He enjoyed playing soccer and baseball, and also skiing in the Adirondacks. John was also in the Navy for four years. He worked for Varian Semiconductor/Applied Materials for 33 years until retirement in 2016 (Gloucester, MA). John and wife, Cyndi, enjoyed the times they spent cruising on his Harley Road Glide, gardening and, in Columbia, SC, they both loved caring for feral cats; having them neutered and placing them for adoption. John was a lifelong learner. He enjoyed reading about WWI and WWII, also detective books. In retirement, he joined a rifle club and became an excellent marksman.
