John E Reynolds

COLUMBIA – Funeral services for John E. Reynolds, 85, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with interment to follow with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon in the Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice Care of Tri-County, 166 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210 or Alzheimer’s Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd. Ste. 100, West Columbia, SC 29169.

Mr. Reynolds was born March 15, 1929 in East St Louis, IL and passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 at home. He was the son of the late Terry Edmund Reynolds and Leah Cleo Reynolds. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He contributed to the Apollo Space Project from the beginning specializing in communications. He was a lifetime member of the Professional Engineers Association IEEE.

He is survived by his wife, Edith M. Reynolds of Columbia; sons, John E. Reynolds, (Deborah) of Lexington, Dr. Wade Reynolds (Elizabeth) of Lexington; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Louise White of Greensboro, NC. He is predeceased by his daughter, Peggy Ann Porter.
