Joseph Dancy Jr.

Born Jan. 30, 1947, in Glen Daniel, W.Va., Joe was the son of the late Mary Christina Dancy and Joseph Dancy Sr.

Joe, a 1964 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, retired twice, first as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and then in the private sector in South Carolina, where he lived with his wife, Mary Katherine Dancy, who preceded him in death in 2013.

Those left to honor his memory are his sisters, Margaret Dancy and Rose McQuade; his daughter, Judy Devore (Jeff); two grandsons, Brandon Devore and Zach Devore; seven great-grandchildren; niece, Melissa McQuade; and beloved dogs, Sadie and Snowball.

Joe’s funeral will take place Friday, June 5, 2026, at 12 p.m., at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Columbia, S.C., with Father Sandy McDonald presiding. Friends are welcome to visit with the family one hour prior to the service.

A military burial will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 12 p.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery .Arrangements by Dunbar Funeral Home – Northeast in Columbia, S.C.
