Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Dunbar Funeral Home- Northeast Chapel with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

A native of Columbia, Kathleen was born July 21, 1935 to Charles and Virginia Bailey Tinsley. Kathleen enjoyed bringing happiness and laughter to those around her. She often told stories about her childhood and growing up with nine siblings. Family members fondly remember Kathleen's love for vibrant colors in clothing and coordinating her lipstick with her accessories. She was loving, caring, supportive, valued, funny, great story teller, compassionate, understanding and was determined to never let setbacks or health concerns overshadow her joy.

Most importantly, Kathleen was incredibly proud to be a mother. She loved her children and wanted to ensure their happiness. She worked many years at Whirlpool, where she retired, then began caring for others during her retirement. Kathleen’s hobbies and talents were many as she enjoyed fishing, coloring, collecting dolls, sewing, making paper dolls, shopping, and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was baptized and considered her baptism one of her most treasured moments. She often would wake early to get ready for church, as it was her favorite event of the week. She enjoyed worshipping, singing in the choir and visiting with her church friends. A highlight was eating lunch with her church family on Sunday after service. Kathleen had a way to enter any room and instantly make a friend. To know her, was to love her. She enjoyed bringing laughter and joy to other's lives. Nothing was more important to her than loving, caring and providing for her family. Her infectious personality brought comfort and joy to all around her, she was incredibly witty and loved to make others laugh.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sons, David Allen Blackwell and Gregory Dean Blackwell, as well as her daughter Kathy Blackwell Jackson. Those left to cherish her memory include her son; Thomas Blackwell (Danette) of Elgin, SC, three granddaughters; Shannon DeSouza (Mark) of Chapin, SC, Mary Laney (Jordan) of Elgin, SC, Melissa Willoughby (Josh) of Columbia, SC, two grandsons; Terry Jackson , Ryan Jackson both of Lexington, SC and a proud great grandmother of six.

I’m saddened by the news of Ms Finley’s demise. She was a strong one and she was humorous. She made us all laugh with her stories from the past. I knew her from the dialysis center she used to go to for her treatment.

Came to know that her mother was a very good seamstress and made beautiful dresses. Ms Finley liked flowers, pink carnations were her favorite. Her favorite candy was Babe Ruth and Krispy Kreme Donuts.

She lived life “king size” with a beautiful family and left behind a strong loving legacy. My heartfelt condolences to her family.

Maw Maw Prissy,
I love you. I love. I love you. It’s been a little over 48 hours since you went to Heaven and it already feels like months. It’s too long...
I miss you saying “Tommmmmmmmmy!” I miss your critiques of any and everything food related. I miss you asking Sloan to hug to you. I cherish Ethan’s memories of you, each is retold then ended with one heck of a belly laugh “Momma, remember when she said that bad word and then covered her mouth like a kid and laughed.” It takes a lot to get my boy to laugh, but you sure did.
I miss you! I miss your silliness, your way of making every day entertaining, your tall tales, your silly language with Katie, eating Mexican, I’ll say it...even helping you on the darkest days.
You are so special to me, all of us.
Your strength is that of the mightiest warrior. What could hurt someone so deeply you chose perseverance. You chose to make every day, every word and every action COUNT. You are a remarkable example of Honor, Loyalty and Love.
Katie and I will always be sure to honor you in all we do. You are a part of us and we are a part of you. We thank God for that blessing. I pray you knew it before and I hope you feel it even more now.
Bye Maw Maw, be careful, I love you.

Miss Kit was (and is) a beautiful soul!! She was gentle and kind and always willing to lend a helping hand. I never will forget the time she tried to teach us gals how to can tomatoes! Danette and and I were both covered in tomato sauce!! The kitchen did not fair much better. Miss Kit had the knack of making canning, cooking, and sewing look easy. I am very happy to think of her in Heaven visiting all her friends and family. She is now with her Lord and Savior and I know she is happy to be back in action again. Oh Happy Day!!! ❤️

THIS WAS MY AUNT KIT. I DIDN'T GET TO SEE HER MUCH AND WASN'T CLOSE TO HER BUT I KNOW THAT EVERY TIME I SAW HER, SHE PUT A GREAT BIG SMILE ON EVERYONE'S FACE. I REMEMBER WHEN SHE AND MY MOM AND MY AUNT RUBY ALWAYS MADE ME LAUGH. EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T SEE HER MUCH, I DID LOVE HER. PRAYING FOR HER FAMILY TO HAVE PEACE AND COMFORT! I KNOW SHE IS IN A BETTER PLACE!
