

A funeral service celebrating the life of Laverne Kesler Greenway, 81, widow of the late Homer Ray Greenway of Columbia will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2010 in Rehoboth United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Rehoboth United Methodist Church or Harmony Hospice in Laverne's memory. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements.
Mrs. Greenway entered into eternal rest with her family by her side on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at her residence. She was born in Salisbury, NC to the late Thomas Kesler and Lillian Williams Kelly. Mrs. Greenway was the owner of Laverne's Beauty Shop and retired as a teacher's aide at Belvedere Kindergarten. Mrs. Greenway worked in community service for over 10 years with the Boy Scouts of America as District Cub Scout Chairman and was awarded the highest Scout honor, the Silver Beaver Award.
Surviving are her sons, Wayne T. (Lilla) Greenway, Michael Ray Greenway, Philip (Laura) Greenway, and Vic (Jackie) Greenway; 7 grandchildren, Wendy Boardman, Melanie Brown, Lisa Sasser, Ian Greenway, Ariana Greenway, Amy Asper, and Rebecca Hall; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends whom will all miss her dearly.
