Letha Herring

IRMO – Letha Weed Herring, 88, widow of Francis A. Herring, Sr. passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Eva Lever and Brady D. Weed and granddaughter of the late Lula Derrick and James W. Lever of Irmo. Mrs. Herring was a Charter member of Lutheran Church of Transfiguration. She was retired from Colonial Life Insurance Company and a member of the Colonial Life Retirees. Mrs. Herring was a Gold Star Mother and member of the American Legion Auxiliary #130 – Cayce.

Mrs. Herring is survived by her son, F.A. and Barbara Herring, Jr. of Columbia; two grandchildren, Todd and Wendy Herring and Holly Herring all of Columbia; two great-grandchildren, Dori and Hunter Herring; brother, Claude R. Weed of Columbia. She was predeceased by her son, Brady W. Herring and a sister, Violet W. Owen.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Lutheran Church of Transfiguration with interment in Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery, 1000 Broad River Road, Irmo, SC 29063. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran Church of Transfiguration, 1301 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033.
