Lizzie M Wingard

LEXINGTON – Lizzie Caroline Meetze Wingard, 91, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Services for Mrs. Wingard will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Bush River Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sistercare, P.O. Box 1029, Columbia, SC 29202.

Mrs. Wingard was born April 26, 1921 in Irmo, SC. She was a daughter of the late Daniel Reuben Meetze and Fannie Martha Jane Sons Meetze. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Colie Wingard, Sr.; her daughter, Florence Ann Epps; son-in-law, Eddie Epps and granddaughter, Beth Epps. Mrs. Wingard was a member of Lexington United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Forever Young Group and Sunday school class. She was a former member of the Women’s chapter of the Gideons and served as a volunteer at LICS.

Mrs. Wingard is survived by her children, Jannie Ruth Jordan, John Colie “Johnnie” Wingard, Jr. and wife, Claudia and Darlene Patricia Wingard; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mattie Wingard and Kathleen Murphy. She was predeceased by her sisters, Annie Mae Swygert, Beulah Sease, Mary Lou Bundrick and Fannie Belle Rauch and brothers, Daniel Meetze, James Meetze, Noah Meetze, Seber Meetze and Junnie Meetze.
