Lucy Thompson Lawhead

COUMBIA – Funeral services for Lucy T. Lawhead, 86, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church with a private entombment in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel. Memorials may be made to Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063. Mrs. Lawhead was born September 30, 1926 in Glen Allen, VA and passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Hunter J. Thompson and Mary Hill Thompson. Mrs. Lawhead was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church. She attended William and Mary College and was a substitute teacher in Lexington District 5. Mrs. Lawhead was retired from the University of South Carolina, office of the Registrar. She was Past Matron of St. Andrews Chapter #271 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Lawhead was very active in the Lexington County Republican Party.

Mrs. Lawhead is survived by her

sons, Dr. R. Allen (Ronda) Lawhead, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Michael D. (Becky) Lawhead of Chapin, SC, Douglas J. Lawhead of Columbia, SC and Thomas H. (Diane) Lawhead of Lexington, SC; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Raymond A. Lawhead, Sr.

Lucy was a loving mother and grandmother. Always seen with a gentle smile and open arms for everyone. A true giver to her family, friends and church.
