
A graveside service for Dr. Marshall H. Solomon, 90, of Columbia will be held at 1 o’clock Friday, November 25, 2011 at Arcadia Lakes Cemetery with Rabbi Jonathan Case officiating. Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to Temple Emanuel, 1129 Jefferson Road, Greensboro, NC 27410 or to Beth Shalom Synagogue, 5827 North Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29206.
Dr. Solomon died Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Born November 22, 1921 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Harold Solomon and Helen Klein Solomon.
Dr. Solomon graduated from Highland Park High School in New Jersey and from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Following UNC he graduated from the Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry. He proudly served his county in WWII where he was stationed in India and Burma. During the Korean War he was stationed in England. Dr. Solomon practiced dentistry in Greensboro NC for 35 years. He was past President of Temple Emanuel in Greensboro and was also a Mason.
Dr. Solomon was known for his enduring love and affection for his family.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Brooks Solomon; daughter Paula Solomon (Hyman) Karesh of Columbia; granddaughters, Abby Karesh (Rob) Suss of Atlanta, Mary Karesh (Jeff) Silverberg of Columbia; great-grandson, Jacob Suss, two loving nieces and close friends.
