Mary Sue Bedenbaugh

COLUMBIA – Mary Sue Shull Bedenbaugh, age 75, of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212, with interment at Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends after the service in the chapel.

Mary Sue was born in Little Mountain, SC on December 30, 1937, the daughter of Rev. Dr. Daniel Murray Shull, Sr. and Mary Langford Shull. She was a graduate of Newberry High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Newberry College class of 1960. Mary Sue was married to Lester Lee Bedenbaugh on June 8, 1958. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mary Sue was a full time homemaker who took great pride in caring for her loved ones and her home. Mary Sue was a wonderful mother and taught her children and grandchildren how to live their lives. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Homeroom Mother, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and an active member of the Lutheran Church. Mary Sue radiated Christian Love for all people and animals. Mary Sue performed daily acts of kindness for her family and friends, and set a wonderful example for all to follow. She especially enjoyed working in her yard and being outdoors. She was loved by everyone who knew her and had a beautiful smile for all those she encountered. She is survived by her husband Lester Lee; daughter, Mary Lee Hooks (Steve); son, Dan Bedenbaugh (Fran); four grandchildren, John Hooks, Jason Hooks, Caroline Hooks, and Jenna Hooks. She is also survived by her brothers, Rev. Dr. Daniel Murray Shull, Jr. (Christine) and Cyril Shull.
