Melanie Shearer

Born in Bodenmais, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Johann Strohmeier and Franziska Wölfl Strohmeier. Melanie immigrated to the United States after she met and married the love of her life, Arvid.

Melanie’s love of her family was only matched by her love of animals, and this unbounded love will be her legacy. Her kindness was also gifted to the people around her, as her genuine and kind gestures forever touched their lives.

Surviving are her daughter, Norma Shearer-Kim (Wayne) of Newport, Tennessee; her daughter, Ruth Shearer of Arlington, Virginia; her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her extended family in Germany.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Major (Retired) Arvid J. Shearer, her infant son Edward, and her daughter Patricia Ferkin.

The family wishes to thank the friends and staff at The Blake at Woodcreek Farms, who became special friends to the entire Shearer family.
