Mieko was born July 17, 1929 in Yokosuka, Japan to Toshizo and Katsuyo Watanabe. Mieko was preceded in death by her husband, SMSGT William G. Moseley, Jr. In addition, she is preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters. Although she had 2 other sisters and a brother, it is unknown whether they survived her.
Mieko is survived by 3 children - Rex Moseley (Patricia), Nancy Proietti (Richard), and Tim Moseley (Tana), 2 grandchildren – Rex Moseley, Jr (Joanne) and Patricia Currin (David) and 3 great-grandchildren – DJ Currin, Krystopher Moseley and Reagan Currin. She is also survived by 4 step-grandchildren, Kristen (Ley) Morris, Dale Gordon, Jenifer (Stacy) Cameron and Savannah Comtois, and one step-great-grandson, Atticus Cameron.
Mieko courageously came to the United States with her new husband in 1956. She learned English on her own and worked hard to become a United States citizen. Mieko’s strength was evident as she raised 3 children while her husband was on 3 tours of duty in Vietnam.
Mieko loved shopping, eating out, anything purple and visiting her family members all over the country. Her favorite song was ‘You Are My Sunshine’; everywhere she lived people commented on her being a ray of sunshine. Everyone knew Mieko was in the room when they heard her signature word “WOW!” reflecting her joy over even the simplest things.
Family was very important to Mieko. She always wanted to get everyone together whether it was at the beach or someone’s home. Road trips were frequent events in her life as Dad loved to travel. These road trips worked out perfectly for Mieko. Did we mention she loved to shop and dine out?!
Mieko’s wonderful smile will be missed very much.
