Richard Thomas Martin

COLUMBIA - Richard T. Martin, 61, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on August 28, 2014 peacefully in his sleep. The Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit (at Still Hopes) 1 Still Hopes Dr. West Columbia, South Carolina 29169 on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Richard was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in 1953. Richard attended schools in Lenox, Massachusetts and was a 1971 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Richard had resided in Columbia, South Carolina and worked for 24 years at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community. He enjoyed his dogs Walter, Lexi and Sarg, traveling and spending time with his friends and family. He was a communicant of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Richard is survived by his two siblings, John D. Martin, Jr. of New Harmony, Utah and sister-in-law Teresa and his sister Gail E. Banks, of Columbia, South Carolina, his two nephews Jason P. Martin and Matthew C. Martin of Massachusetts; and the rest of his relatives and friends. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, John D. Martin and Rita Phyllis Martin, of Lenox, Massachusetts.
